The great challenge of designing cutlery is that it is a very functional product that tingles almost all senses. Cutlery must lay pleasantly in the hand, it must be in balance, it must look good, it must be easy to clean and it must provide a pleasant feeling in your mouth. Besides each set consists of three basic designs, each of them having a special function.
The basic design for the set originates from a design study for the first class of Japan Airlines. Starting point was that in this class cutlery should be both jewelry and tool. Because in the traditional Japanese kitchen chopsticks are used a lot and weight plays a significant role in aviation, carefully balanced, slender and elegant shapes have been chosen that are almost managed like chopsticks.
Later the design was taken over by Paloma Picasso (daughter of).
