Very different and often contradictory demands are made on the design of traffic signposting. It goes without saying that the signs have to be recognizable, but they are not supposed to dominate the vicinity. Under all circumstances they have to be readable at a glance, they have to be vandal resistant, timeless and they must be able to endure different weather conditions.
In order to give the signs a distinguishing face two thin fastening poles have been chosen instead of one thick one. By deviating also in a subtle way of existing Dutch signposting, the function of the signs is clear at a glance. The readability is guaranteed by choosing a clear font.
The system has been in use for may years in and around the city of Utrecht. There are both electronic and static versions.
